So God left; then a snake in the garden told the woman that God did not want them to eat the fruit because they will become like God. The woman ate the fruit and told the man to do so too, he ate it and than God came back and found out that he ate the fruit. He cursed the man woman and the Satan. This is beginning of mankind, and tells the History of Israel as a nation.

The tower of Babel was begun by the man who thought they could get closer to their gods by building a big tower. It was led by a man named Nimrod under his leadership they began building the city of Babel, later known as Babylon. Gods response to the tower of Babel, was to confuse the project by making people to speak different languages. And people could not work together when they could not speak to each other.

Abraham was a sheep herder who lived in a city called Ur. One day God spoke to him and said that he would be the father of a great nation. Abraham was an old man when God said that he would have a son. He had a son and he named him Isaac. Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. Abraham is called the father of the Nation of Israel.

Joseph was one of 12 sons of Jacob. Joseph was the favorite, and he was the second youngest. One day his father made him a robe, it was beautiful. So he went to tell his brothers about it and said that his father loved him the most, he also said that he had a dream that his brothers were gonna bow down to him. The brothers got angry with him and threw him in a ditch. Then an Egyptian trader came along and his brothers sold him into slavery. Even Egypt Joseph prospered and soon became the chief adviser to the pharaoh. When his brothers came for help, they did not remember him and thought he was just an Egyptian. But Joseph remembered them and was happy to see them. He soon let all the Israelites come to Egypt and live there. Jacob was later called Israel and soon all of his children, and grandchildren and later generations came to be called the “the children of Israel”. The children of Israel later came to be called the Nation of Israel.

Moses was born in a time when the pharaoh of Egypt was evil and was killing all the Israelite people because they were getting more and more powerful. Even though he had enslaved them and made them work. They still were getting more in number. The pharaoh of Egypt said that all new born baby boys shall be drowned and killed. Moses's mom sent him down the river in a basket, and he floated down to the daughter of the pharaoh. She took care of him and he became the second son to her. Moses became the heir to the throne of Egypt. One day he saw an Egyptian beating an Israelite, he killed the Egyptian and left the land. Later he was called by God to lead the Israelite people out of Egypt and to the Promise land.

Moses first began out of Egypt after God sent curses on Egypt that killed Pharaoh's son. Pharaoh allowed Moses to leave Egypt, but afterward he again got mad and sent the army to go after Moses and kill all the Israelites. They trapped them into the Red Sea, but Moses with God's help split the Red Sea enough just to cross the sea. While when Egyptian tried to cross they were drowned. So after the Israelite people crossed the Red Sea they worshiped God. But soon that stopped and they started complaining about food, and that they would rather be slaves and be fed. But God sent mana to come from above, and water flow from the desert. They finally reached the “Promise Land” and settled there.

King David was one of the best kings of Israel. He had led Israel to its greatest peak as a nation-state. Israel thoroughly defeated its enemies and expanded its borders. Through out history, Israel had many wars. They got captured by Babylon and Persia. Jews were often Persecuted and dispersed by many nations. This happened whenever they stopped serving and loving God. They are still God's chosen people and if we want God's blessing as a nation we should support them and remain allies with them. Israel's history is very exiting and it is connected with their Faith.

The civilizations I studied this year

1. The earliest civilization of Greece were the Minoans who were sea traders. The second was of the Mycenaeans and they were warlike people. In the beginning the Greek people worshiped their ancestors, until a blind poet named Homer sang poetry about different gods. People stopped worshiping their ancestors and began to worship the gods of Homer's poets.

Greeks also liked the Olympics. The Greeks sometimes would stop wars to attend the Olympic games in honor of their god Zeus. The major city of Greece is Athens, it was the capital and it is today. The Greeks did not only have many gods, they also had hero warriors that they thought were sons and daughters of the gods. One of them was named Pericles. He was said to be the son of a god named Zeus. They were led by a man named Samuel Adams. In the begining they told the British ships to leave, but the ships refused to. Then they went on the ships and began to throw all the tea and every thing else out. This began because of King George who put heavy taxation on the colonist. The colonist did not want heavy taxes on tea or other things. The British people were telling the King to raise colonist's taxes. The colonists then became less loyal to King George. One of the colonists was Paul Revere. Later in the Revolution he was the man to ride one night and warn all the people that the British were coming. After the tea party the British closed the Boston port and the Revolution began.

Battlefield 2

This game is a modern warfare game. In this game there are three sides the USMC, Terrorist, and Chinese. In this game you can use many things. You can fly the F-18 super hornet, or drive the Humvee, or even drive a muscle car in an expiation pack. I like this game, it has a great multiplayer game mode. You can play many people online. It also has a single player mode. I play this game when I can, it doesn't work on this computer, so I cannot play it. But I played this game before. <img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; I saw a Pinyon Jay, House Finch, Redwinged Blackbird, Western Meadowlark, Killdeer, a pair of Doves, and many Sparrows. I stayed outside for over and hour. I saw some small birds come and fly away. Then the group of Blackbirds came and began scaring away all the other birds. After that the Pinyon Jay came and then scared the Blackbirds from the food. At the end I saw a Meadowlark and the Doves and that was it. I tried to take some pictures, and got a few, but it was hard to get very many good ones. I also went looking for a book about identification of the birds, but didn't find it. We had a field guide to animals of America and the internet. We used them to identify.

Red winged blackbird

Spring Break

Spring break is over, I did many things while it lasted. I had my friend over at my house, I accidentally missed my soccer practice (for which I am very sorry about), and just hung out at the house. My friend and I did a soft air war and went to the creek. I have a soccer practice today and I wont miss it this time. I play as a offensive midfield and also as a forward. I can also play other positions. We have been getting snow sometimes, but today it is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Started back into school today and I rode my bike. We have also been busy helping my Grandma Ginny move. Everything is finished now, and we are back on schedule. I have to get 7 pictures this week for my bird list as I posted about earlier in March.

Tom Clancy's: Net Force Virtual Vandals

The "Net Force" is about a computer that can virtually send people into different places. Matt met the first suspect who was the ambassador's daughter. Matt wasn't rich but his freind said that skill and sneakiness will beat money any time. He went into rich kids' virtual chat room. I wanted to begin reviewing games for kids and their parents to help them get an idea what games maybe good and what games may not be good for kids and teenagers and may help them with the choices of the video games they buy or play.

"Call of Duty; Modern Warfare", was given to me on Christmas. My brother Nathan helped my parents to choose this game. Even though I am 14 years old and this game is rated M for Mature, this game is not too bad, it does have a little bit of mild language in it and blood. But it would rate like a PG or PG 13 war movie. It gives a good story line and is very exiting. In this game you play as two people in the S.A.S

(Special Air Services) commando and a USMC (United States Marine Core) solider. This game also has very good graphics and a lot of action. The battle field's are on a cargo ship, the Middle East, and Russia. It seems to know a lot about how the cities look because it looked almost like a Russian city in the game.

This game is a great game, But I wold not recommend this it to people of ages 13 and under. Because it has a little language and may be a little bloody for anyone who is under that age.

Sometimes games that contain shooting make people think that they are not good games; With many games I can agree with them because some games do not have proper meaning, just killing, stealing or destroying. Satan is known to kill steal and destroy; We do not want to be like him. But some games do have proper meaning, because they have to do with justice. So when people are learning to fight and shoot in a war, in these games they are learning to be warriors for what is right. The Bible has a lot of war and even blood, but the wars are always for what is right.

Here is the rating system that I will use.

1 thru 5 points can be given; 1 is for the lowest rating, 5 is for the highest rating.

Here are the categories I will rate:

1). Christian, 2). Gameplay, 3). Violence, 4). Adult content, 5). Bad language, 6). Graphics.

Here is my rating for "Call of Duty 4":

Christian: 2 points

Gameplay: 5 points

Violence: 3.5 points

Adult content: 2

Bad language: 2

Graphics: 4.5

The story behind the Christian fish symbol

This symbol was started in the ancient Rome. It started when Christians were getting killed over religion. The government of Rome during (58-64 A.D.-C.E.) they thought that Christians were going to go against the government. Christians dug underground passages where they had meetings and where they could talk about Jesus. But Roman government thought that they were going to flood Rome from below. Christians were thrown in jail. Soon Christian people were worried about talking to people they did not know. They made a sign that looked like a fish, which came from Jesus' proclamation to Peter "I will make you fishers of men". They then would draw this symbol somewhere like maybe in the dirt or sand, and when the other person
recognized it, they would draw the fish also. This way they knew it was safe to speak to each other with out fearing persecution.

Reptiles

Today I am learning about reptiles in biology. These are the qualities that cause reptiles to be classified as "Reptiles"; They are vertebrates (they have a backbone), They have scales on their bodies (except for snakes), they breathe air with lungs, and most reproduce by laying eggs. Reptiles include snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles, and alligators. Another quality about Reptiles is that they are cold-blooded; a cold blooded animal is one that has no internal method to keep its body temperature. On cool mornings, reptiles make an effort to get warm so they can be more active and run after their prey. If they are cold, they are slow. Turtles sun themselves on logs floating in a pond. Lizard and snakes use rocks to heat their body temperatures by the sun. When they are warm, they can go faster then warm-blooded animals like mice. Reptiles do better in hot climates than in cold climates. Snakes and lizards are abundant in southwestern United States and northern Mexico. They control their body temperature by first going into the sun gaining heat and then when they are too hot they go into darker pleases like under a rock.

Ranger's Apprentice: The burning bridge

I am back from my school break.

"The "Ranger's Apprentice" by John Flanagan is a very exiting book series. It is almost like the "Lord of The Rings" I had just finished reading book two "The Burning Bridge."

The book is about a 16 year old boy who is a ranger for the kingdom of Araluen. In the book before he became famous for his actions in the first book and now is sent on a mission with his friend Horace. The mission is to go to the kingdom of Celts and ask for support for army. The dark lord Morgarath had attacked the Celts and killed or captured the people. For unknown reason he kept all the miners.

During the mission they had met a girl who was a peasant. But the ranger who accompanied them was to go back to Araluen to spread the news that Celts had been driven out of their land and killed. He found out that the girl was the daughter of the king. In the end the Ranger's Apprentice is captured and is the girl. With threat of bieng sold into slavery, Halt the Master ranger is going to go after them.

I think the book is very well writen and has alots of good story line that fallows the action.

Ranger's Apprentice

" Ranger's Apprentice" by John Flanagan is about a boy who wanted to go to Battle school in the castle and become a knight was chosen to be ranger's apprentice. I learned about Egypt. Before Egypt I learned about Mesopotamia. While learning about Mesopotamia I also learned about Ziggurats. Ziggurats are the ancient buildings that are similar to pyramids, but ziggurats are temples where the Sumerians would go to worship their gods, the tower of Babel was probably a ziggurat. After Nathan and family left, I worked really hard and got my school work caught up.

Then came Thanksgiving and fall break. On Thanksgiving, I won my first pin-pong game against great grandma Gertie, she is 93, Russell brought her to the pin-pong table in the wheel chair, and we put the ping pong stick in one hand and a cup for her drool in the other, I beat her 21-19. Ha Ha Ha (Just Kidding!). We did have a nice Thanksgiving though. There were 14 of us. We hung out, played ping pong, went for a hike, lost "Toby" (our dog), found Toby, ate turkey, Piroshkis, and lots of other food.

Stormbreaker

The "Stormbreaker"by Anthony Horowitz is about a fourteen year old boy named Alex. His mom and dad died in a plane crash and he lived with his Uncle. One night he woke up because of police at the house and he overheard them say that his uncle died in a car accident because he was not wearing seat belt. Alex thought that could not be true because his uncle was always cautious at wearing seat belt. At the funeral there was also some unusual thing like one of the men had a hand gun and that there were many faces that Alex did not know. Alex always thought that his uncle was a bank manager. Alex decided to go see the car and when he saw it he saw bullet holes.

Later at home the bank called and asked Alex to come to the bank that day. In the bank he saw the same man at the funeral named Alan Blunt. He then found out more things and went to his uncles office. There he found many files and one of them was a file called the "stormbreaker". Alex finds out that his uncle was a secret agent in the M I 6 and he had been on a mission when he got killed.

As the story goes along, Alex gets involved with the mission, after being trained with the "K" Unit. The story is very interesting, and moves quickly.

I think this book is very good. It has a lots of action. It has great ending, but you'll have to read it for yourself.

Ancient History

In my history class I started with Genesis. He was a very smart person and was asked to go to a college which he could not attend because of his family low on money. One night he overheard his dad talking to his sister about school. He thought that he was going to school again. In the morning he woke and his dad wanted to talk to him. His dad said that he was going to go to stay at a place for nine years. The boy agreed. During those nine years he was not allowed to leave without permission and he was not to be interrupted during working hours. This was called an apprenticeship.

So the nine years passed. During the nine years, Mr. Bowditch lost his dad, grandma, mom, and sister. When he started on his apprenticeship, the captain was his friend. Then everything changed and they got a different captain whose name was Prince. Captain Prince was a angry fellow. This made things harder. But as time went on and they became friends also.

Mr. Bowditch completed his apprenticeship. Captain Prince asked him to go on other trips. He agreed and they went. During the second trip Mr. Bowditch found an error on one of the sailing instructional books. He was very angry because many lives depend on those books. These errors inspired Mr. Bowditch to write his own book on sailing ships.

Because Mr. Bowditch was so smart at mathematics and he taught the crew how to do what he did. Mr. Bowditch became popular and wrote his own book. Nobody thought that the British would accept that the book was better than the one with the errors. But the British accepted the book with complements.

I think that this book tells us about how Mr.Bowditch had lost everyone he knew. But he did not give up and quit,he just continued on with his life. Because of his perseverence knowledge, he became Captain . Because of his calculations, he was one of the only man to sail in the Boston harbor in the fog at that period of time. I liked the character of Mr. Bowditch and I enjoyed reading this book.

Fishing Trip

The fishing trip was fun but it was very windy and cold.
During the fishing trip we all caught a fish. My fish was the biggest of them all it was abouth 22 inches long and about 5 pounds. Steve had a fish that was a little smaller them mine, and Russell had the smallest of them all (for a change). We went in the morning and came back at night. In the lake it was very cold and we all got sick with the flu. It was nice when the sun was out and when the wind stopped. When we left we thought that we were the last ones in the lake. But we were wrong because when we were going out we saw many more people in the lake fishing. Steve caught the first fish at 10:00 A.M. in the morning, and I caught mine with Steve's pole when he went to help Russell. Russell caught his right before we left the lake.

<img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; The book "Kidnapped" is about a boy whose father died and was sent to go to his uncle. The boy's name was David Balfour of Shaw's. His uncle was all about money and he tried to kill David and take his money. So one day David and his uncle went to the city where uncle met up with a sea captain of the "Covenant". David got on the "Covenant" and he got beat up in the ship and sailed away because David's uncle made a deal with the captain.

While David was in the ship there was a murder of a boy, David's money got taken and divided with the crew; and many other bad things. Luckily he got two thirds of his money back. One day in the ship there was an impact and they hit a boat. One man got on the boat in french clothing and with money. The captain wanted to kill the person and take the money. So David and the stranger decided to fight.

Before the battle David found out that the name of the stranger was Alan Breck. So they won the battle and the ship went into the storm. David got swept off the ship and landed on a island where there were no people to help him. He survived for some days on the island till someone picked him up, and sent him into an actual island with people. He got a guide and went off. After his guide left he ran into red coats and someone killed the leader. The red coats thought of him as a stopper of the movement for killing and gave a price on his head. He ran far and found Alan. After he found Alan they went to help each other to get to their own homes.

I think in this book, the author wants us to know about frendship and courage. And how Alan and David "together" got through the British and went to their own homes; David, to claim his house and Alan, to go to his country where he would be safe. It tells us about how they were in situations where they could not do anything but be still and hope that they were not found.

Uncle Sam wants you in the US Navy

Uncle Sam wants you in US Armed forces, I don't know if Obama, does but Uncle Sam does [ha!!!]. My brother-in-law, Benjamin, just graduated from the Navy boot camp; my other brother-in -law , John, is thinking about joining the Air Force; and my brother Russell is going to Navy boot camp in March; and my sister Olga is thinking about joining the Navy; As for me, I like the Marines.

I worked on my normal subjects today in school. I worked on writing the Bible, I read more of "Kidnapped". I worked on my Science notes and finished a review for "The plant Kingdom".

Today in P.E. I jogged and walked about 2 miles; to my neighbor's Dale and Kim's house and back. I don't have a game this Saturday because of the sickness going in my school, so there was no practices, so Russell and I got our physical training by running.

Yesterday, I finished my Chapter on World History. We covered "Creation" (with a small study on Evolution), Cain, Abel, Seth, the "Flood", "Tower of Babel", Sumer, Babylon and how nations began after the dispertion at "Tower of Babel".

Field trip photos

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; It was very exiting. We took our little dog with us. The leaves were turning different colors. The color of the leaves seem to change from green to gold or yellow. Actually, colors of fall were there in the leaves all along. They were hidden by the much brighter green of chlorophyll. Maple trees put on a great show and turn a brilliant scarlet. Sweet gum, cottonwood, elm, hickory, and walnut reveal leaves of gold, yellow, brown, and orange.

Most of the tree shed their leaves during autumn. The trees lose their strength to hold leaves and lose them because of the wind. The leaves lose their color because the sun start to become weaker in Autumn, so the leaves can't make enough Chlorophyll (the green color in leaves), to feed the tree and so as the chlorophyll slows down, the leaves begin to show the colors that remain. Slowly they die and trees lose the leaves.

All of my practices are canceled this week and my game is too. Because in the school many people got sick and could not come. The school canceled that day too. Stir and dissolve and let sit until its foamy. Add 1 egg(2 can be used for extra richness) and whisk well. Add 1/2 cup butter or oil. slowly add 6 to 7 cups flour. Knead on oiled surface 8 to 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl. Cover with wax paper and a damp cloth and place in refrigerator until ready to use. You can dampen cloth occasionally and punch down if you are not ready to use it right away. Pull off pieces of dough for rolls and place them side by side on a greased cookie sheet or cake pan. Allow them to double in size. Bake at 375* for 12 to 15 minutes.

You can use this dough for a few things, like rolls, or cinamon buns. or hamburger buns, or pieroshkis.

For our Pieroshkis, We cook up hamburger or chicken and add onion; often we add cooked potato, and sometimes cabbage and bake the same way. We used an old Recipe; My Great, Great Grandma's roll recipe. We put cooked hamburger and raw, green onion inside the rolls so they would be like my favorite Russian food:"Pieroshki's". The dough is different for "Pieroshkis", but this is good too.

If you want to see what makes bread rise, read my report on "Yeast"

Today I messed up my blog. Henty, takes place during French Revolution. It is about a English boy who lived with a family in France. He saved the daughters of the people he stayed with from a mad dog. The French Revolution began. The family's father went to Paris because he was noble to the king. One day the alarm sounded and the father went to fight for the king. When he came back he was hurt. The father told everyone the news that the king is prisoner to the Revolutionaries, and that all noble people were to be put in prisons. The English boy stayed in Paris to help the daughters of the father, while the brothers tried to go to England.
I think the story is very good. It tells the courage of the English boy how he helped the girls to get to England. It is full of action and adventure. I like the book a lot.

Fungi Kingdom-Yeast

The Fungi kingdom is everything that doesn't fall into animal kingdom and plant kingdom. I'm going to talk about yeast. Yeast cells are alive they grow and they multiply.Yeast needs sugar to grow because it can change sugar into carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide creates alcohol. People make alcoholic beverages using yeast and juice. People also make bread using yeast sugar and flour. Today were making yeast bread firs we mix the sugar water and the yeast together then we let it sit. After about 10 minutes the liquid began to bubble it did because the yeast ate up the sugar, then the yeast multiplied and prodused carbon dioxide. These carbon dioxide bubbles make the douough rise.

Today is my brother Nathan's birthday. I will have games tomorrow and I will play hard. I am #13 on my team. This is all I have to say now.

Life of Robert Louis Stevenson

"The Life of Robert Louis Stevenson For

Boys and Girls" by Jacqueline Overton, is about an author who wrote many good books. He was born on November 13Th 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He died at age 44 on December 1894.

When Robert Louis was young, he loved to write and loved to play with his cousin. When he was young he was often sick in bed, so he began to write little plays to entertain himself.

Later in life he was still often sick. Most of his famous books he wrote when he was ill in bed. There are a lot of books that he wrote that I have not even heard of or known about it.

I think in this book, the author who wrote it, must really be interested in Roberts Louis's books. I think the author wants us to know who he really was, how he lived, where he lived , and what people thought of him.

Three of the books Robert Louis Stevenson wrote are: Treasure Island, Kidnapped ,and Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. In fifth grade I read. "Treasure Island". Next week I will read "Kidnapped".

"Red Badge of Courage"

"The Red Badge of Courage" is about a young Union solder in Civil War.
